Our trip to Portland, OREGON

Luca in the suitcase, doing the sign for airplane!

Uncle Pierce and Luca.

Swimming in a very warm pool on a cold day at a bbq' in the middle of a forest!

They also had stables and a riding arena at this bbq. This was Luca's first encounter with a horse. He was tentative, but eventually touched the horse.

I caught Luca standing without holding on.

One of the cool toys at Uncle Pierce and Aunt Erin's house....simplicity.

AnAn (Auntie Andrea), Luca, David, Uncle Pierce, and Aunt Erin.

Auntie Kedra and Luca. Kedra and Lars drove down from Seattle just to see us.

This is Lars and Luca...they are SECOND cousins.

Uncle Pierce in his bee suit. Going to check on his bees.

Davis' THIRD birthday party bbq'.

Skyler and Luca are the same age. Both chubby!

Mommy and Luca at the square in downtown Portland.

Luca and the bronze beaver in downtown Portland.

Karen and Luca.

Luca's first attempt at climbing stairs was on this trip...first at Uncle Pierce's and then at Auntie Karen's.

Hanging on the porch. Karen and Jamie in the background.

Road trip.

The Portland ZOO. Very nice zoo and gorgeous day in Oregon.

Luca and Davis with SWEET rides at the zoo.

A natural mommy.

Davis' bird bath.

My college roommate, Rachael, reading to Luca.

My other friend Rachael with her 2 sons, Kole and Angus.

Julie with Kole.

Luca's first TASTE of sand.

9 MONTHS OLD

Luca's 9 month stats:
25 lbs. 15 oz.
31 1/2" long

He's now taking swim class and loves the water.
Luca can get himself standing up from any object and can sit back down too. He walks with help from my two fingers. He's signing like crazy. He knows airplane, bird, sox, milk, light, fan, book, ball, dadda, mamma, and cat. He signs all, but doesn't quite do the right sign yet. He LOVES to communicate.

Long Beach, NY

This was my FIRST TIME ON THE BEACH.
I even dipped my feet in the cold Atlantic Ocean.

my 2 BOTTOM teeth

Finally a good photo of MY TWO BOTTOM TEETH

Spring has sprung

We went to the QUEENS FARM MUSEUM last weekend and there was a kids fair and petting zoo. Finally Luca can see some real images of all these animals that we keep showing him in books!

He loves his books! Remember the book Pat the Bunny?

Love at Music Class

Luca and Wendy, the music teacher. Luca now crawls over to her and sits in her lap during class!

Daddy love

It's no wonder his second REAL sound is DA DA!

Tamborine time

This was Luca's last music together class for the season. Luckily we signed up for another 12 weeks. He loves being entertained and will probably join in more this time around now that he's getting around on his own.

Standing in my playpen, laughing at mommy and daddy.

7 MONTHS

We saw Dr. Capilupi yesterday and Luca's doing everything he's supposed to be doing, and developing right on target. His new stats are:
23 lbs.
29 1/4" tall
2 teeth on the bottom

He's standing with help, rocking back and forth on all fours, sitting like a champ, and now saying "DAA DAA" and "UH MA". He says da da all the time and says uhma when he wants/needs something!

Swinging in Bayside

Luca was more interested in the other children running around. It was his first real trip to the park and it was a beautiful crisp sunny day so everyone was out playing.

mmmmmm.....BISCUTS!

Mom let me eat my first teething biscut. It's very messy. I cut both my bottom front teeth within the last week and I need these badly, but mom is scared I'll choke!!!

We came up with a great solution. This snack popsicle is safe and I can chew my biscuts, bananas or ice right thru the mesh.

URBAN COWBOY?

Lock up your daughters

6 months old last weekend and he's weighing in at 23.5lbs. now. A little chubby, but very tall.

Luca is SITTING on his own now. He still falls over every once in a while (like right after I took this photo), but he sits and rolls around like a pro. He also gets up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth. This kid wants to get moving!

My little winter snow angel.

Green beans

Luca didn't care for his first green food (green beans) but he's gotten better at swallowing them instead of spitting them out. What kind of vegetarian will he be if he doesn't like his green beans???
He's scooting backwards now and sometimes gets into a bit of trouble since he has no directional abilities. We watched him scoot under the chair and get stuck...and then rescued him.

ALMOST 1/2 Year OLD

Since Luca knows how to roll over from his back to his tummy like a champion, he's now sleeping on his tummy.

I've started making all his baby food, which is a lot easier than I thought. He's had PEARS, CARROTS, BANANAS, APPLES, and SWEET POTATOES. I'm going to try green beans and peaches this week. He's really a good eater so I don't anticipate any problems.

Luca has his first bad cold but seems to be getting through it. I just heard that kids tend to have 8-10 colds a year. Doesn't that seem high? The good thing is that neither Rob or I caught it!

His newest sound is "HOOOO" which makes him sound like a little owl!

5 months old

His recent stats:
Height: 27-1/2"
Weight: 19 lbs. 8.5 oz.
Head: 43.7 cm (huge brain)

He's off the charts in height and weight still, but the doctor said he's height/weight proportioned.

This week Luca and I started Music Together classes (singing, musical instruments, dancing, moving). He's the youngest in his class, but he loves watching kids, singing and moving. He laughed a lot and vocalized his newest letter..."B"...baaaa uhba.
Yesterday after his doctors appointment we started Luca on carrots. Yummy.
