Karen's visit from Portland to meet Luca

What an exciting weekend filled with a lot of firsts for Luca. Friday we went to the mall for the first time and ate at Nordstrom's cafe. We didn't do a lot of shopping, but walked around and got lost in the mall. Then on Saturday Luca took his first Long Island Rail Road trip into the city. It's only a 25 minute train ride from Bayside, Queens into Manhattan. We shopped a bit and then took the N subway train downtown to Soho. That was Luca's first subway experience too. We ate brunch outside at a soho restaurant and had a star sighting...Jack Black with wife and baby in tow. We spotted him eyeing our Bugaboo stroller. Then we went to Renee and Jeff's apartment to hang out. Patty stopped by and Luca fell asleep on her shoulder. Then we headed home and found Rob (who is sick with a cold) making home-made pasta for us and had a cheese plate out with homemade spreads for the bread! YUMMY! Sunday we had brunch in Brooklyn with Cathy, Kalyani and Cathy's friend Amy. Karen's visit was too short! She helped out a lot while she was here, and she even changed diapers and cleaned bottles! We love her and Luca will never forget her.

I'm growing...

Luca had his check-up at the pediatrician this week and he's now 11 lbs. 15 oz. (gained 2 lb. 8 oz. since birth), and 23 3/4" long (he's a whole inch longer). His hair is turning a light redish-brown and reminds me of GRANZIE's (my mom) hair color!! He slept thru the night last night -- a whole 8 hours. We'll see if that was just luck or not soon enough.

STRONG!

Luca is holding his head up for the most part, and we have tummy time every day. Here he is holding his head up at tummy time.

Sleeping in mommy's arms

Luca loves to be held. He falls asleep very well in my arms.

Labor Day Picnic

Rob, Luca and I went to Ally Pond park in Queens on Labor Day to have a picnic. It was a nice sunny day, and there was lots of people watching to do. Ally Pond is a large park with forests to walk thru and grass to sit on. It's no Central Park, but it's a nice place to go in Queens!!!

My First Bath––3 weeks old

Yesterday Luca had his first real bath. He loved it. He stared out the window most of the time, but wasn't bothered by water being poured over his head at all. Then I dressed him in this super cute jumpsuit that Jenny Tunick gave him.
He seems to be holding his head up on his own for long periods of time, and every once in a while we'll get a coo and a non-gasy smile (I swear).

Granzie's first visit

August 30th, 2006
Luca's umbilical cord fell off yesterday. Now we can give him a real bath. Here are 2 photos of Luca and Daddy, taken before Rob left for work yesterday.
Granzie (Sara) had a good week of bonding with Luca. Here she is holding him.....a lot. We had our very first picnic in Queens together, and we also ventured out to dinner at a local Italian restaurant and took Luca with us. He slept thru the whole thing. What a good boy!!!!
Grandma (Barbara) stopped bye and we took this photo. Luca loves his grandparents!
